The Hyundai IONIQ is an innovative hatchback that comes as a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and an electric vehicle. Hyundai is now using the name “IONIQ” to launch a lineup of EVs as part of the automaker’s initiative to release 23 all-electric models by 2025. The first of these is the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5, a small SUV with the cabin space of a midsize crossover. According to the City of Industry Hyundai dealer, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 will initially only be available in 18 states, including California, with more markets to be added later in 2022.

Drivers will appreciate the 2022 Ioniq 5’s fast charging speeds. According to the Hyundai dealer serving City of Industry, using an 800-volt charging station, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 18 minutes. With a 400-volt charger, the same charge takes 25 minutes. The driving range is estimated at approximately 303 miles.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Trim Levels

The 2022 Ioniq 5 seats five and is offered in three trim levels: SE, SEL and Limited. The Ioniq 5 is offered in two configurations: Standard Range and Long Range. Standard Range models employ a 58-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, while Long Range models are equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery. The standard rear-wheel-drive models get an electric motor above the rear axle. Available all-wheel-drive models use a second electric motor located at the front axle.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE includes 19-inch aero wheels, LED exterior lighting, flush aerodynamic door handles, cloth seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and adaptive cruise control. Also standard is the Hyundai SmartSense safety suite, which includes forward and reverse collision avoidance assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and blind-spot collision avoidance assist. The Ioniq 5 also gets the Blue Link Connected Car system standard.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL

Step up to the mid-level SEL, and you’ll get simulated leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, a hands-free power liftgate, and automatic flush exterior door handles. The Highway Driving Assist II system is also standard. This semi-autonomous system takes cruise control to the next level, reacting and assisting with lane changes when another vehicle cuts in front of the Ioniq 5 at low speed. It can also move over if the car in the next lane gets too close for comfort.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited

The range-topping Limited trim includes 20-inch wheels, a zero-gravity reclining driver’s seat, a sliding center console, a sunroof, remote smart parking assist, a Bose premium audio system, and wireless smartphone charging. The standard head-up display features augmented reality. It includes turn-by-turn directions, lane safety information, and a front-vehicle indicator. In the Limited, the SmartSense system also gets a blind spot monitor in the gauge cluster and a surround-view monitor.

Whichever Ioniq 5 trim level you choose, it will come with Hyundai’s excellent warranty, which provides the Ioniq 5 with a limited 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Complimentary maintenance for three years/36,000 miles is also included.
